What are your views on the Hawthorne Neighborhood of Portland, Oregon?
me and my girlfriend have decided to move to portland in the summer, and the hawthorne neighborhood or SE portland sounded the most appealing place to live. we are used to riding our bicycles and using public transportation to get around the city, is this area of the city convenient for that? and yes any feedback on this neighborhood as in things to do and etc. would be much obliged.
It’s a very cool/funky neighborhood perfect for biking (as most of Portland is) and is very convenient for public transportation/biking/getting downtown, etc. Lots of things to do…cool bars/pubs, shopping, coffee, wine shops, etc. Mostly independent shops with a couple of bigger ones thrown in. Portland is full of funky, cool neighborhoods and Hawthorne is certainly one of them. Other places to check out once you are settled…N Mississippi area, NE Alberta, SE Belmont and SE Clinton (very near Hawthorne), NW 21st/23rd, and many many more.
