bicycles weight limit
Does anyone know if bicycles have weight limits?
Thinking about getting husband one and he is pushing 285
Racing oriented bikes and wheels generally have maximum weight limits. You will absolutely want to stay away from these products. Most bikes oriented toward recreational riding from good quality brands like Trek, Specialized, Cannondale, Giant should hold up well for him.
The biggest problem area will be wheels. He will want to stay away from any type of low spoke count wheels regardless of the bling factor. 32 or 36 spoke wheels with a traditional 3 cross pattern will competently carry him for years.
If you have concerns, I’d address them with the sales folks at your bike shop.
